Cary Fukunaga has signed a two-year, overall deal with Paramount Television, the studio announced Tuesday.
Under the agreement, Paramount TV will have exclusive rights to produce and distribute all scripted television directed, written and and/or produced by Fukunaga, who earned an Emmy for directing Season 1 of HBO’s “True Detective.”
Currently, he is collaborating with Paramount TV as director and executive producer of “The Alienist” for TNT.
“Working with Paramount on ‘The Alienist’ has been a great experience, and I’m thrilled to expand upon our partnership,” Fukunaga said in a statement. “I look forward to digging in and collaborating on a number of exciting and diverse projects.”
He recently directed and produced Netflix feature film “Beasts of No Nation,” starring Idris Elba and Abraham Attah. He is currently developing a drama for A24 based on the true story of Oregonian father and son Joe and Jadin Bell. He will direct and produce through his Parliament of Owls production company.
