‘American Gigolo’ TV Adaptation in the Works by Paramount, Jerry Bruckheimer

Richard Gere‘s “American Gigolo” is the latest film to get a TV makeover.

Paramount Television and Jerry Bruckheimer Television will try their hand at bringing the feature-length crime drama to the small screen, the two companies announced on Wednesday. Bruckheimer was also a producer of the 1980 movie, which starred Gere as a male escort in trouble with the law.

“With its signature noir aesthetic, ‘American Gigolo’ has remained a deeply entertaining, psychological thriller and I’m thrilled to partner with Brad and Amy on remaking it into a television series,” said Bruckheimer.

“When it comes to making great television entertainment, Jerry Bruckheimer Television is in a league unto themselves,” President of Paramount Television Amy Powell continued.

Jerry Bruckheimer Television’s Jonathan Littman will be an executive producer, KristieAnne Reed will serve as co-executive producer, and Michael Azzolino will produce.

As TheWrap previously reported, Paramount is also involved in the TV adaptations of “Shutter Island,” “Ghost,” and “The Truman Show.”

Also in the works are TV versions of “Marley & Me,” “Rush,” “The Illusionist,” “Big” and “Monster-In-Law.”
